Individual therapy
Some times people mistakenly believe that marriage and family therapists don’t see individual clients, but that isn’t the case.
At least half my clients are individuals whom I help understand themselves in the context in which they grew up as well as their present circumstances. I am happy to see individuals who enter therapy because of a current crisis in their lives or relationships and also those people who want a deeper and longer exploration of themselves.
Couples
I welcome couples who are either in crisis or hoping to simply enrich their relationship. My therapy with couples is informed by the work of many pioneers in the field of marital therapy, including John Gottman and David Schnarch. I work equally well with gay, lesbian and straight couples.
Families
Family therapy is a highly effective therapeutic modality which helps family members understand and perhaps modify the impact they have on all the other members of the family. Even one member changing can have an impact on the entire family. This is often the treatment of choice for children and adolescents. I welcome both traditional and non-traditional families.
Clinical Supervision
Much of my practice is devoted to conducting clinical supervision with other therapists, either individually or in small peer groups, who are pursuing licensure or who just want to continue to grow in their clinical skills.
